Temperatures in Washington D.C. took a nose dive this week and it is feeling distinctly more like autumn than July. That’s fantastic since I hate our hot and humid summers. The weather has me pining for changing leaves, drives down windy, country back roads and trips to the farm. Baugher’s Orchard and Farm is my favorite farm in Maryland. Their market is huge and sells not only seasonal produce, but homemade ice cream and fudge, a huge selection of jams and jellies, and much more. Not far away Baugher’s also has a restaurant that serves delicious homecooked meals.
I’m an western New Yorker by birth. I spent the first 23 years of my life in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. Even with all the places I’ve seen, I still think New York is one of the most beautiful on all of God’s green earth. Every year that I am able to, I return in the fall to see the changing leaves and to buy as many New York apples as I think I could possibly eat and bake. Continue reading
