About a year ago, I went to hear my friend Johnny Boyd play some great music in Baltimore. Also playing that night was soul crooner Paul Loren of New York City. As a soul music lover, I was instantly hooked. Paul’s got tremendous talent. A few days ago he played a show at Joe’s Pub and thankfully the entire thing is online for those who couldn’t be it at the show. I really love the encore.
I’m a swing dancer and when I decided to visit NYC it made sense to see if I could dance while I was in town. When I saw Johnny Boyd and his Sensational Swing Lover Band was playing the same weekend that “On the Town” opened I knew I had to make the trip that weekend. I’m generally too busy dancing to photograph musicians in action, but I’m glad that this time I pulled out my Canon Rebel and snapped a few. You can check out their music here. Continue reading
I’m a huge fan of movie musicals. If it has Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire in it, chances are I’ve seen it. “On The Town” with Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra is one of my all-time favorites.
I don’t know about you, but there are certain movies I want to watch at particular times of year. “You’ve Got Mail,” is one of those movies for me. Autumn rolls around and in addition to apple picking trips and eating all the pumpkin things I want to watch Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in this adorkable rom-com. Continue reading
